Philip Algar - Author

Philip Algar, B.Sc. (Econ.), FCIJ, worked in the international oil industry, including a period when he was responsible for a large company’s media relations. Subsequently, he became a writer, contributing regularly to publications in the UK, Norway and the US. He has participated in more than 500 broadcasts in the UK and North America and has experience of live interviews, phone-ins and debates. He has also written his own radio scripts.
Two of his earlier books on crisis management were published by the Financial Times. He has attended actual crises in the UK and Europe, as a company employee, journalist or consultant. Algar has trained some 150 organisations, in many different sectors, in more than 20 countries, on how to handle the media during emergencies and has participated in many hundreds of training days and exercises. He has also prepared crisis communication plans and manuals, written scenarios for training exercises, scripted videos and lectured at the UK’s National Emergency Planning College and in the UK, Europe, Middle East, North America and Australia.
Ray Dafter - Author
Ray Dafter, is a writer, journalist and communications specialist. He has written on shipping matters for the Financial Times and Lloyds List and his work has been published extensively throughout the world. Ray is the author of four other books and editor of a dozen more.
As a sailor, Ray Dafter is well aware of the delights and perils of sailing in the waters around Guernsey and its neighbouring islands. Indeed, this fascination led to the lengthy research which culminated in Guernsey Wrecks and Guernsey Sentinel
These are two great books on the maritime history of the Channel Islands.
